Perfect Match Gel&Polish Duo.

WHAT IS IT

Campaign design for “Perfect Match” Gel and Nail polish including branding, packaging, ads, social media, video tutorial...

“Perfect Match” is a color-matching gel polish and nail polish set in a box. Customers or nail technicians can choose to apply gel polish as a manicure while having the matching nail polish as a pedicure or use the nail polish as a touch-up til their next appointment.

BRANDING & PACKAGING DESIGN CONCEPTS

I want customers and technicians to feel luxurious and expensive when they experience our brand. I heavily used motifs and old-style serif fonts. On top of delivering a sense of luxury, the packaging also has to be economically produced, fit product description and instruction in 2 languages, and personally, I want to create eco-conscious packaging design.

Here are some design highlights:

  • Glueless
This box engineer has to accomplish many things. It needs to protect the 2 glass bottles not touching each other during the shipping process. It has to show the nail polish on the sides without sacrificing the integrity of the box structure for shipping and stacking. On top of accomplishing all the requirements through origami-like folding and tucking, I created a strong and beautiful box that requires no glue.

There are many benefits to packaging that requires no glue. It takes less money and time to produce. Applying glue is a separate production process after printing and die-cut, and it may require another set of shipping boxes for the final glued boxes. Glueless packaging can be shipped and stored flat. The minimum storage space translates to less money, less footprint, and no room temperature control preventing the glue from melting. Above all, when the package reaches the end of its life, it is easier to recycle. Many recycling centers reject paper with glue, tape, and metal.

  • Twin Matching Design
Inspired by the “Perfect Match” concept, graphics and folds unveil a side-by-side design. Users start by opening the flaps in unison, then they see one crown graphic on 2 boxes, one for the gel polish and one for the color-matching nail polish. Opening each side of the box also contains a crown graphic side-by-side.

  • Two-Color Printing Process
A typical printing process consists of 4 CMYK colors. Each color requires an individual drum and plate, wash, ink, and reload. The more colors we use, the more time, cost, and environmental impact we cause. I designed the “Perfect Match” packaging printed in 1 panton color, which ensures color consistency and best matches the polish color, and 1 black color for the barcode.

At the end of the day, the nail polish color should take center stage. This vibrant packaging design expands the nail polish color story on its own and when displayed on the shelves.
