Jewish Fed. of the Greater East Bay.

WHAT IS IT

Annual report and web design for the Jewish Federation of the Greater East Bay, short of Jfed. Jfed is one of the largest and oldest Jewish organizations in California, they acquired us to define a website that is more fitted for young people and give their annual report a fresh look.

WEBSITE DESIGN CONCEPT

I deconstructed the Star of David and used it as the design element throughout the website.

Upon entering the website, users are greeted with a short animation explaining the origin of the design concept. Then each shape leads the user to 5 sections categorized by age group, in which users can find age-appropriate content based on the page they have selected: bedtime stories for children, discovering what it means to be a Jewish woman for pre-teens, or legit grandma’s kosher recipes for parents.

Another message that I wanted to convey is one for all and all for one. The Star of David represents the church and every one of the Jewish believers. We are our individual person and we are also part of the unity, part of the Jewish family.

ANNUAL REPORT DESIGN CONCEPT

The annual report was shared among the internal individual contributors.

I want to create a beautiful to look and to feel book for our Jfed mature and sophisticated audiences.

Using lots of white space, muted family-oriented photos, and sophisticated serif fonts, I want the person who picked up the book to feel a sense of calmness and warmth and confidence for their financial contribution. Additionally, I chose to use many Jewish symbols as the design element, the red threat binding was borrowed from the Jewish Kabbalah red string, and the black and blue color combination is from the tallit and Temple robes.
