Do You Have 5min?

WHAT IS IT

“Do You Have 5min?” is an experimental film inspired by 9/11.

In 2001 when the Twin Towers were fallen, I was a kid just arrived in the U.S. by myself. I barely spoke English and understood even less context of what was happening around me.

In 2004 I visited the 9/11 site in NYC. The site was full of rubble, broken beams, and an ocean amount of heartbroken notes sticking to the wire fence around the fallen site. While I was compelled when witnessing the sheer amount of destruction when I got home and my heart settled down and had some time to reflect, I realize the concept of “so it will pass.” 9/11 will become another page in the history book, this compelling feeling I felt and couldn’t carry with me from NYC will fade away as time goes on.

I couldn’t help but wonder what it means “care.” When I say “I care about [something],” is it me that produced the feelings, or is it manufactured by some ad, society shaming?

“Do You Have 5min? started with a lighthearted short animation discussing what “true care” means. Then it bring the audience around San Francisco sites where I invited strangers to join me standing silently in a square. Take a moment of their lives and just feel and think about things/people/events that they care about.
