Project Scope


For 8 years, Sumo has released numerous online tools for 700K+ blogger and ecommerce sites. Since I started working with Sumo, it has been evidenced that the lack of process, style guide and brand voice is the blocker for releasing a good product. In 2017, we started the Sumo rebranding project, in effort to make Sumo a professional and cohesive brand.

Brand Voice


The design team presents research findings and conducts the stakeholder workshop. The goal of this workshop is to brainstorm Sumo’s own definitions, come up and align with words we own, and remove the confusing voice that we are not. The result helps align the vision and provide context for our next step: Moodboard and Look&Feel.

Moodboard & Key Screens


Based on the new Sumo definition, the design team goes to work. We came up with 4 themes, key components, and key screens for the stakeholders to vote on.
