Dark Energy is an absence of light that accompanies the expansion of the universe, and is also the subject of my three-part experimental art project.
Dark Energy is a book that cannot be read. Each page contains a story, and the page is mostly covered by white paint and the small uncovered portion usually contains a specific message. This heavy book represents our lives, and the white paint symbolizes the passed time that erases memories. Those memories are either partially or forever stored in our head or completely forgotten.
#2 WEB SITE
Following the url on the cover of the Dark Energy book, users log into the web site but they are told to visit the web site only one time. Inside the web site is a slideshow of the Dark Energy book before it’s covered with white paint. The user clicks on the uncovered part of the page and sees the white paint slowly drifts away. Each page contains a story in the past. We cannot unwind the memory nor turn back time, therefore there is no back button in this web site. If the memory is not remembered, it just fades away. #3 ART INSTALLATION
Shot in a dark alley in San Francisco, the Dark Energy art installation was constructed with multiple projectors and hand-cut letters. Darkness that swallows the exhibit space shows the loneliness of Dark Energy. Dark Energy exists in the universe by itself; lonely, castaway, ignored, and misunderstood.
